New seasons of hit series airing in July

Winter is in full swing, but fortunately, there’s plenty of viewing pleasure to keep you warm and cosy. Various popular series return in July on kykNET (DStv channel 144), with a good dose of lifestyle and current affairs to keep you informed.

The fourth season of Anzél in the Boland kicks off on 5 July 2024, and viewers can prepare for the most diverse season yet. Anzél will provide special wines, picturesque landscapes, adventurous activities – and heartwarming stories.

“I am so glad to be back on air. I really missed capturing the area’s stories and sharing all the beautiful places with our viewers. The first day back in front of the cameras was a bit strange, but I quickly found my rhythm again,” says Anzél.

In this season, Anzél visits Fuselage Wines where she flies an airplane with Protea pilot Alewyn Burger.

“It was truly an exceptional opportunity. The camera crew captured this amazing experience incredibly well, and we decided to kick off the season with this episode,” she says excitedly.

She also chats with Karen Zoid at Doolhof outside Wellington, where Karen’s wine, Sy Raas, is made. Other beautiful places Anzél visits, include Groote Post along the West Coast, Benguela Cove outside Hermanus, Meerlust outside Stellenbosch, and GlenWood Vineyards in Franschhoek.

Anzél in die Boland is sponsored by Paarl Valleij Lifestyle Estate & Farm, and begins on 5 July 2024 at 18:30, exclusively on kykNET (DStv channel 144). The series will also be available on DStv Stream and Catch Up.

Wie’s Nuus met Netwerk24 returns to keep viewers up to date with current affairs in South Africa and the rest of the world. The new season begins on 17 July at 21:00.

“Much has happened since the last season of Wie’s nuus met Netwerk24, which means there are a lot of new newsmakers attracting our attention,” says the presenter, Mia Spies. “We have a range of new ministers and parliament members after the general election, new sports heroes making us proud, and unfortunately, a lot of controversial figures getting us hot under the collar. I look forward to visiting your living room every Wednesday evening to share more about the people who have the country and the world talking.”

Henriëtte Loubser, editor-in-chief of Netwerk24 and Media24’s Afrikaans news division, says:

“We are just past the halfway mark of 2024, and it is already clear that this is a historic year for our country. With the recent election, many new roleplayers have emerged, piquing the public’s curiosity, and the second half of the year will certainly not be boring. The Olympic Games and the US presidential election are just two events that will keep people glued to their screens. We at Netwerk24 look forward to sharing our journalists and editors with kykNET viewers for the fourth time, so they can get to know the newsmakers better and make sense of news events.”

In the new season, which begins on 3 July, there are, among other things, segments about a family who decided the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence after all and returned to South Africa from New Zealand. There are also projects of interest to South Africa that Dr Mathews Phosa and his colleagues are tackling, and a visit to a group of retired pilots.
