As awards season reaches its grand finale, Ster-Kinekor is giving movie lovers the chance to experience six Oscar® Best Picture nominees on the big screen for just R99 per film. Each R99 deal includes your movie ticket plus a small popcorn and drink combo for the full cinema experience. Even better, the R99 offer applies to four of the titles also screening in IMAX®, delivering premium large-format viewing and the best value cinema experiences of the year.

The Golden Globes winners have been announced, the stars have sashay-ed down the BAFTAS red carpet, and Sinners was the big winner over One Battle After Another at the Actor Awards gala evening announced on 01 March.

Now, the much sought-after golden statues wait patiently in the wings for the 98th Academy Awards celebration on 15 March. According to the pundits, some of the front runners celebrated at the likes of the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards could also be firm favourites to take home the prized Oscars, but these are simply their predictions – what are yours?

The Oscar nominations announced recently provide the next best clue as to which movies, casts and crews are poised to take home the top honours in this year’s race to movie stardom.

Six of the films nominated for Best Picture will screen at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas from 06 March. A special Oscar Buzz deal offers all tickets for each film priced at just R99, which includes a small drink and popcorn. The films are Bugonia; F1; Hamnet; Marty Supreme; One Battle After Another; and Sinners, with screenings taking place on a rotational basis across the week at the following sites: Rosebank Nouveau, Eastgate and Mall of Africa in Johannesburg, Brooklyn in Tshwane, Watercrest in Hillcrest KZN, Somerset Mall in Somerset West, and Tygervalley and V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Continuing the R99 Oscar Buzz promotion into the following week, four of the nominated Best Picture titles – F1; Marty Supreme; One Battle After Another and Sinners – will then move to Ster-Kinekor’s eight IMAX cinemas (Cradlestone, Eastgate and Mall of Africa in Johannesburg, The Grove in Tshwane, Baywest Mall in Gqeberha, and Blue Route, Capegate, and V&A Waterfront in Cape Town), from 13 March for a week.

Lynne Wylie, chief marketing officer of Ster-Kinekor Theatres, says:

“With our exclusive Oscar Buzz price deal, movie buffs have the opportunity to watch some of last year’s big picture nominees once again in all their glory – and as their directors made them to be seen – on the big screen, including on the biggest screen of them all, in IMAX.”
