Watch New NT Live Theatre Productions From The UK Stage On The Big Screen
A new season of six world-class theatrical productions, filmed live from theatres in London, will be screened at select Ster-Kinekor and Cinema Nouveau theatres between March and November this year. Cinema audiences and theatre lovers alike will be treated to world-class productions from some of Britain’s most innovative playwrights, directors, actors, and stages, on the big screen as part of the NT (National Theatre) Live Series.
Launching the series is a new production, Mrs Warren’s Profession, which screens on 07, 08 and 10 March at select Ster-Kinekor and Cinema Nouveau cinemas: Cresta and Rosebank Nouveau in Johannesburg, Brooklyn in Pretoria, Watercrest in Hillcrest, KZN, and V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. It will also screen at Maerua Mall in Windhoek, Namibia.
Five-time Olivier Award-winner Imelda Staunton (The Crown) joins forces with her real-life daughter Bessie Carter (Bridgerton) for the very first time, playing mother and daughter in George Bernard Shaw’s incendiary moral classic.

Vivie Warren is a woman ahead of her time. Her mother, however, is a product of that old patriarchal order. Exploiting it has earned Mrs. Warren a fortune – but, at what cost?
Filmed live from the West End, this new production reunites Staunton with director Dominic Cooke (Follies, Good ), exploring the clash between morality and independence, traditions and progress.
George Bernard Shaw’s play, Mrs Warren’s Profession, was first performed in London in 1902. Written in 1893, it was included in Shaw’s 1898 collection Plays Unpleasant, alongside The Philanderer and Widowers’ Houses.
