Stephen King adaptation The Institute First on Showmax
14-year-old genius Luke Ellis is kidnapped in the middle of the night and brought to The Institute, a prison-like facility in rural Maine that houses children with psychic abilities. The place is run by Ms. Sigsby, a sadistic and determined true believer who will stop at nothing to carry out her mission. Sigsby and Luke are immediately engaged in a deadly battle of wills and wits.
The Institute is an upcoming supernatural horror television series written by Benjamin Cavell and directed by Jack Bender, with both also serving as executive producers
Based on the Stephen King bestseller, The Institute introduces Joe Freeman as Luke, opposite the likes of Ben Barnes (Shadow & Bone, Chronicles of Narnia) as a former police officer, Emmy winner Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) as Mrs Sigbsy, and Joe Freeman as teen genius Luke Ellis.
The Institute is directed and executive produced by Emmy winner Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones).
The series is set to premiere on 14 July 2025, on Showmax, and consists of eight episodes.
