Ashlinn Gray’s love-letter on long-distance relationships is her heartfelt new single ‘Tshirt’.
After a short hiatus, SA born, LA based artist Ashlinn Gray breaks her silence with a heartfelt and personal ballad. The new single ‘Tshirt’ is an ode to her long term boyfriend. The two have been living in separate parts of the world for a couple of years now.
“I haven’t seen my boyfriend in over a year,” she says.
While the singer’s previous single ‘Best Friend’, celebrated self love, ‘Tshirt’ on the other hand, explores romantic love. With all this time spent apart from her loved one, the ‘Battleships’ hit maker redirected her focus to songwriting, producing some of her best work yet.
Ready to share her much anticipated new music with her fans, ‘Tshirt’ is a deeply personal heart song. It captures the heartbreak of feeling alone and in love at the same time.
The couple were high school sweethearts and for the first four years of their eight year relationship, they spent nearly every day together.
Ashlinn laughs “It’s cringe worthy, I know, but it’s true.”
The song is a raw and honest portrayal about the reality of long distance. The songstress sings about waiting by the window, wearing her lover’s Tshirt inside out and how every day is a reminder about the love they share.
“People ask me all the time how I do it,” she says. “I just see it as temporary heartache waiting for hopeful resolution. But don’t get me wrong, it sucks. It’s an emotional roller coaster. The song really wrote itself. T-Shirt is all about knowing that the distance won’t break you, juxtaposed by the longing and not knowing when you will see each other again…”
“Love always finds a way,” Ashlinn concludes.
