Brand-new Afrikaans sensation Worsie van Wyk has just blown listeners’ minds with his unexpected sound.
Fashioned as the typical my-boere-hart-verlang-na-die-bosveld artist, this Lowvelder has completely shattered the mould of what can be expected from the stereotypical Afrikaans singer. This is not your everyday brandewyn-techno-boere-stamp artist.
Worsie van Wyk, contrary to what could be connected to such a name, is a metal singer with a hard-hitting sound that would even make Dave Mustaine proud. Yet, beneath the growling, double-bass drums and distorted guitar are lyrics that are almost wholesome enough to be played on RSG.
‘Kraal van Sweet‘ is the first single off his upcoming four-track EP, Oros en Horrogs and it’s a banger – with mosh.
“It’s a song about a mosh pit, which is what usually happens when I’m on stage, and it’s a testament to my overall sound and vibe“, says Worsie.
He describes the track as “energetic, loud and in your face“, and sure enough, it’s a top-fueller, right off the bat.
Worsie wrote, produced, performed and recorded everything you hear on the song, which was then sent for mixing and mastering in Johannesburg.
