Netflix Teases Its Biggest South African Telenovela Yet: The Polygamist
Today, Netflix unveiled the teaser for its new supernovela, The Polygamist, adapted from Sue Nyathi’s acclaimed novel. Produced by award-winning Stained Glass Productions, the 22-episode series premieres on 12 June, led by standout performances from Gugu Gumede and S’dumo Mtshali as Joyce and Jonasi Gomora.
A self-made CEO, Jonasi Gomora builds an empire and a complicated personal life that begins to collapse under the weight of his choices, as the wives and mistresses in his life hold a mirror to the man behind the power.
Key cast include: Gugu Gumede, S’dumo Mtshali, Kwanele Mthethwa, S’thandiwe Kgoroge, Kenneth Nkosi, Celeste Ntuli, Luyanda Zwane, Wonder Ndlovu, Noluthando Shabalala, Vuyo Biyela, and Lwazie Keith Tsebesha.
The Polygamist premieres exclusively on Netflix on 12 June 2026.
