Season 3 of Skemergrond brings shocks, new faces and deep divisions in Gemoedsdrif
The third season of Skemergrond kicks off on Monday 29 June, and the drama in Gemoedsdrif immediately reaches new heights. With shocking revelations, new faces and difficult choices threatening relationships as well as the future of Everlasting, the town’s residents are in for some major challenges.
Dirk finds himself drawn ever deeper into Christine’s web after she stuns him with a revelation. As the Louw family fights to protect both their family and the flower farm, divisions emerge within the community and old friendships and loyalties are put to the test. Tillie is forced to make difficult choices, while Christine’s influence over Dirk grows stronger and the battle for Everlasting intensifies.
Meanwhile, a new resident causes tension between Ruan and Lily. Cheryl, played by Robyn Rossouw, arouses Lily’s suspicions when Ruan begins spending more and more time with the newcomer. As questions surrounding Cheryl’s past and her connection to Ruan start to surface, Ruan is confronted with events from his own past and Lily’s need for answers becomes increasingly urgent.
Chelsea’s life also takes several emotional turns when she and Justin make a major decision, but not everything goes according to plan. As the people of Gemoedsdrif rally around her, her dreams are shattered, and her loved ones become increasingly concerned about her wellbeing. Gloria, Kevin and Erica do everything in their power to support her, but Chelsea’s struggles affect everyone around her.
Elsewhere in Gemoedsdrif, emotions are running high. Erica tries to find her footing as the pastor’s wife amid growing tension and division, while Dominee Wayne becomes increasingly uneasy about Ragel’s behaviour. Jasmine finds herself caught in the middle of the town’s divide and is ultimately forced to make her position clear. Meanwhile, Manny, Tillie and the Louw family are faced with difficult decisions as the future of their community hangs in the balance.
In Gemoedsdrif, July is a month of major decisions, second chances and consequences that will be felt long after the dust has settled.
Skemergrond is produced by Penguin Films and Die Toring by Penguin Films’ sister company, Paw Paw Films.
