Lee-Ann Gerber: From tent in the bush to new field presenter on Fiësta

Lee-Ann Gerber won over viewers’ hearts during her time on the kykNET reality series Klein Paradys, and now fans can get ready to see even more of her on the channel. She will make her debut as field presenter on the kykNET show Fiësta on Sunday, 6 July.

Earlier this year, Lee-Ann and her brother-in-law, Johann, had viewers on the edge of their seats during the final episode of Klein Paradys’ first season. There were major celebrations when they were announced as the winners, walking away with a cool R1 million.

Now Lee-Ann is taking on her next adventure—this time as a Fiësta presenter. Her popularity on Klein Paradys led the Fiësta team to approach her when they were looking for a new presenter.

“I had to pinch myself a few times to make sure it wasn’t a prank call,” says Lee-Ann. “I decided to take a chance and submitted my audition video. I was pleasantly surprised when I was chosen as the new presenter!”

Lee-Ann impressed the Fiësta production team from her very first audition.

Fiësta producer Marius van der Wall, says:

“Fiësta is authentic. During the auditions, Lee-Ann’s authenticity really came through, and we felt that’s exactly what we want on the show.”

He believes that the fact that she could live in a tent for a month during Klein Paradys definitely worked in her favour.

“Fiësta might look glamorous, but we often shoot under tough conditions. The team travels far, sleeps in strange beds, spends hours on the road, and meets thousands of people. So, you have to be tough enough, and we felt she had already passed that test. From the first recording, she fit right in—it felt like she had been part of the team all along.”

“The trust that Fiësta and kykNET have placed in me as an amateur presenter is huge. I truly feel privileged and grateful,” she says.

She’s extremely excited about this new challenge.

“I’m especially looking forward to meeting all the different people, visiting the towns that people are so fond of, and attending all the different festivals across South Africa.”

Here are a few interesting facts about Lee-Ann:

  • After completing her drama degree at Stellenbosch University, she taught English in the Far East and worked as a flight attendant in the Middle East.
  • She recently started an interior design business and wants to help people in retirement create spaces in which they can truly thrive during the golden phase of their lives.
  • When she’s not traveling with the Fiësta team, she lives out her passions on her smallholding outside Pretoria, including woodworking, animals, and plants.
  • Pottery is something she also wants to try, but she still feels too intimidated by it.
  • As part of her flight attendant training, she learned how to deliver a baby.
  • She has a fascination with sharks but also an “irrational fear” of them.
  • She can lick her own elbow.

Tune in on Sunday, 6 July at 18:00 on kykNET (DStv channel 144) to watch Lee-Ann’s debut as a Fiësta presenter.
