Samsung and The Market Photo Workshop Empower Emerging Visual Storytellers with Galaxy A Series Collaboration
The Market Photo Workshop, a renowned school of photography, gallery, and project space, and a photographic unit of the Market Theatre Foundation, takes centre stage in Samsung’s latest creative initiative with iKasi Creative and the Galaxy A Series device. Through this collaboration, Samsung is amplifying its commitment to fostering young talent and empowering a new generation of visual storytellers in South Africa’s digital landscape.
Four emerging creators have been selected for this initiative, including Teboho Mabuya (22) and Luyanda Masuku (20) from The Market Photo Workshop. Alongside Miché Cloete (21) and Yolanda Xego (25) from iKasi Creative, these students will embark on an extraordinary journey to create visual stories using the Galaxy A25 5G, A35 5G, and A55 5G smartphones. This project celebrates the theme ‘The Next Generation of Awesome,” encouraging creators to capture life’s moments in stunning quality.
Aspiring photographers are also invited to apply for the Advanced Programme in Photography at The Market Photo Workshop. This experiential, multidisciplinary programme equips students with critical thinking skills through research-based projects, enabling the creation of socially engaged commercial and conceptual narratives of African realities.
Lekgetho Makola, Acting HOD for The Market Photo Workshop says:
“The collaboration symbolises a milestone, a progressive way forward into storytelling and visual culture. The devices bring the power of storytelling into the pocket, allowing our learners to interface with top brands while developing their photographic journeys. This initiative reflects a critical shift from traditional teaching modes to real-world learning opportunities.”
Samsung’s Galaxy A Series, known for its exceptional features and accessibility, provides these creators with tools to elevate their craft.
Teboho Mabuya says:
“With the large internal storage, I can keep important schoolwork and files while storing countless memories to build my creative portfolio with the Galaxy A55 5G camera.”
Luyanda Masuku adds:
“The Galaxy A35 5G has become an amazing companion, letting me showcase creativity and energy through its powerful features.”
iKasi Creative’s Miché Cloete and Yolanda Xego echoed similar enthusiasm.
Lamise Inglis, Managing Director of iKasi Creative says:
“This collaboration empowers us to create compelling content while amplifying the voices of our communities.”
Kgomotso Mosiane, Head of Marketing for Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics, explains:
