MoFaya competition winners earn a place at Miss South Africa’s table

The prospect of dining with Miss South Africa 2023 Natasha Joubert and runner-up Miss Supranational South Africa Bryoni Govender invited a slew of entries for a competition where five winners were guaranteed a seat at their table.

There was much excitement when the winners met the two at a special lunch hosted by competition organisers, MoFaya – the energy drink that has taken South Africa by storm and a brand close to Joubert’s heart, having created a special drink for her, aptly named Berry Queen.

The winners, all of them fashionistas who follow pageants, were Ntsako Mahlaule from Mbombela, Zinhle Khambule from Phalaborwa as well as Clerissa Davids, Zamokuhle Vilakazi and Kayleigh Young, all from Johannesburg.

They discussed a wide variety of topics including personal advancement and the possibility of community upliftment projects.

MoFaya was the first proudly black-owned energy drink in South Africa when it was co-founded by DJ Sbu (Sibusiso Leope) and Siphiwe Shongwe back in 2013. The aim was to create a “strong, authentically African-inspired non-alcoholic beverage brand“. Shongwe was the one who approached the popular businessman about the idea for the brand but DJ Sbu has been the face and voice of MoFaya since it was launched.

Television presenter and MoFaya’s official brand ambassador Ntandose Mosibi said:

“The lunch with Natasha and Bryoni was an empowering experience for the five competition winners, transforming a lavish lunch event into an inspirational women’s empowerment session.”

Through her educational advocacy campaign, the Natasha Joubert Collective, Miss South Africa has organised more than 40 bursaries to help young people achieve their career dreams.

She said:

“I’m so happy that MoFaya organised this competition where we have a chance to engage the five women winners over lunch. I am committed to inspiring women through the telling of my story. There were hard times after the death of my father, with no money for education. My gratitude for the help that allowed me to find and fulfil my destiny is boundless.”

Govender, who will represent South Africa at Miss Supranational in Poland in July, said:

“It is always a pleasure to meet with women who, like me, are finding their way in the world. I’m a lawyer and my advocacy campaign, Her Way Out, seeks to help women to know their legal rights so they can make informed decisions about their lives.”

Miss South Africa is presented by Weil Entertainment in association with Sun International. SABC3 is the official broadcast partner.
