Episode Highlights:

Episode 1 – Monday, 20 April 2026

Alexander Armstrong kicks off his Icelandic adventure hovering above the rim of an erupting and lethal volcano. In the land of ice and fire he’s definitely enjoying the heat as he witnesses the incredible power of the original geyser and meets a man who can bake bread in a lake of boiling water. It isn’t just the landscape that’s hot, though. In the buzzing streets of summertime Reykjavik Alexander samples, the nightlife – or is it day life – as the sun never sets. Hanging out with the hippest young Icelandic band before a gig, Alexander just about has time to pop round the capital’s famous penis museum, so you don’t have to.

Episode 2 – Tuesday, 21 April 2026

Alexander Armstrong heads to the north of Iceland to experience at first hand possibly the world’s most disgusting dish before meeting one of Iceland’s finest jumper knitters. In the legendary town of Husavik Alexander discovers what has become of the former whaling centre now that these majestic mammals are no longer hunted, before playing a round of midnight golf, learning to ride an Icelandic horse like a proper Viking and then taking a well-earned bath in a steaming tub full of…beer, naturally.

Episode 3 – Wednesday, 22 April 2026

On the last leg of his Icelandic adventure Alexander Armstrong leaves the boiling mud and lava flows of the volcanic island below as he ascends to the breathtaking roof of Europe’s biggest glacier with a slightly scary guide in order to enjoy a bizarre lunch. After a trip on the world’s greenest ferry Alexander explores the town of Heimaey which almost ceased to exist when its volcano blew its top in 1973 and he learns why some Icelanders are still using foraging techniques a thousand years old. In the land where rotten shark is a delicacy our intrepid adventurer tries some more eye-watering Icelandic home cooking and admires the sheer majesty of the island’s most lethal beach.

Throughout the series, Alexander interacts with locals to learn about Icelandic traditions, including eating fermented shark, meeting specialized knitters, and learning Viking-style horsemanship. The series was produced by Burning Bright Productions.
