The coaches up their pitching game in the second Blind Auditions episode of The Voice South Africa
Who will persuade the best talent to join their team?
Last week, the all-new third season of The Voice South Africa kicked off with the first Blind Auditions during which the exceptional talent on stage sang their hearts out to turn the coaches’ chairs. At the end of the thrilling episode, coaches LIRA, Riky Rick and Riana Nel all nabbed two magnificent singers for their teams, while rocker Francois van Coke only managed to fill one of his twelve spots.
LIRA can also boast that she secured the season’s very first four chair turn, Ross Charles, while Riana blew away the audience with her phenomenal rhetoric to persuade songbird Lelo Ramasimong to pick her as her coach.
This week, the temperature in the studio heats up as the coaches battle to grab more talent that have the potential to win the competition. They all quickly realise that they will have to outperform their rivals in the other red chairs with their pitches – even if it means that they have to employ some dirty tricks! But will one of them perhaps take it a little bit too far?
While the coaches are fighting it out to fill their teams, it remains to be a nerve-wracking experience for the talent who know that The Voice SA can catapult their careers. Luckily, host Anele Mdoda is there to support their anxious supporters (family and friends?) in the wings.
The second episode of The Voice of South Africa will premiere on M-Net 101 on Sunday, 10 February, at 17:30. It will also be available on DStv CatchUp and this year an even bigger audience can enjoy the show as it will also rebroadcast on VUZU, channel 116, on Mondays at 20:00.
During the Blind Audition phase of the competition, the four coaches sit with their backs to the stage in order to make decisions based on the talent ’s vocal ability. If they like what they hear, they push the buzzer to turn their red chair around. When only one chair turns, the coach secures the talent on stage for his or her team. But when more than one chair turns, the fun starts. Then, the coaches have to pitch to the talent to persuade them that they would be the best mentor for them and be able to take them all the way to the final.
Season 3 comes with a number of twists. For the first time in the South African version of the worldwide hit, the coaches won’t turn around to give the talent feedback when no chairs turn. Another exciting development is bringing the family room into the studio.
To find out who will go to the next round, tune in for the premiere of the second episode of The Voice SA on M-Net 101 on Sunday evening at 17:30. The episode will also be available on Catch Up, and will be rebroadcast on VUZU, channel 161 on DStv, on Monday night at 20:00.
