Sunset Music Series 2026 announces star-studded season
The much-loved Sunset Music Series is set to make a triumphant return in 2026, bringing an unforgettable lineup of South Africa’s top artists to the breathtaking Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden.
Kicking off the season on Sunday 10 May 2026 sees chart-topping favourite Jeremy Loops take centre stage, setting the tone for a series of spectacular open-air concerts under the African sky. Thereafter the Sunset Music Series welcomes Lloyiso on Sunday 31 May, Matthew Mole and Will Linley on Sunday 14 June and Spoegwolf and Francois van Coke on Sunday 28 June. More artists are set to be part of the 2026 season, so keep an eye on socials for further concert date announcements.
Set against one of Joburg’s most scenic natural backdrops, the Sunset Music Series offers a perfect fusion of music and nature. Audiences can expect an afternoon of uplifting melodies, vibrant rhythms, and relaxed picnic-style enjoyment, making it an ideal outing for families, friends, and music lovers alike.
Damon Forbes from BreakOut Events shares his excitement for the 2026 season, saying:
“There’s something truly special about experiencing live music outdoors with friends surrounded by nature, especially in a setting as iconic as the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden. This year we have two seasons – an Autumn and Spring series – and for the Autumn series we’ve curated a set of shows that brings a select choice of top South African artists. We can’t wait to welcome audiences back for another unforgettable Sunset Music Series.”
Each event runs from 13:00 to 17:00, with gates opening at 13:00. While guests are encouraged to bring their own picnic baskets and food, a variety of bars will be available on-site (note: no own drinks permitted). Camp chairs and picnic blankets are welcome, making it easy to settle in and soak up the atmosphere.
Tickets for all shows start from R195 (excluding ticket fees), and demand is expected to be high. Early booking is recommended to secure your spot at one of Johannesburg’s most beloved live music experiences.

Designed to be family-friendly and inclusive, the Sunset Music Series is a celebration of both local artistry in this spectacular natural setting. Future editions will expand to six or more concerts annually, catering to a wide range of musical tastes and audiences.

- No Hard Cooler boxes or Glass is allowed.
- Camp chairs, picnic blankets, and small umbrellas allowed (umbrellas to be set up at the back).
- Small umbrellas are allowed but must be positioned at the back of the venue.
- Gazebos are not allowed.
- Children under 5 enter Free.
