Gotcha’s Pizzeria, Ke Ai and Yes Sir! Events present MINT – a new Music Industry Networking Event on the first Thursday of the month

mint
/mɪnt/noun/

  1. an aromatic plant native to temperate regions of the Old World, several kinds of which are used as culinary herbs.
  2. a peppermint sweet.
  3. a place where coins, medals, or tokens are made.
  4. a place where something is manufactured.
  5. a vast sum or amount.
  6. Something cool, spiffy, sweet, excellent.

Our goal is to connect music industry professionals including but not limited to musicians, producers, funders, vocalists, marketing and PR professionals etc. We have found that it is hard to break into the current music industry culture and that there is not enough support for South African musicians at large or respect for those behind the scenes. Therefore, we would like to find ways to create our own opportunities and work and also provide work to others that are overlooked even though their excellence speaks volumes.

In June, we held our first MINT Event with Producer and owner of iBillion Jonathan Shaw, who shared his knowledge of Copyright and especially Copyright in an AI world.

Producer Matthew Fink spoke about producing and what it takes to create a world class album in July.

We networked with music professionals and were serenaded by several musicians at both events, including Refilwe Sediti, Dumisani Vilakazi aka, Bones, Eaz’52, and Matthew Peaceful.

The next event will take place:

  • Date: Thursday, 1 August 2024
  • Venue: Gotcha Pizzeria and Garden on 4th, Linden
  • Time: 6pm until 9pm

Schedule:

  • 6pm – Meet and greet and open play
  • 7pm – Guest Speaker
  • 8pm – Q and A
  • 9pm – Open play (any performers are welcome to show their skill in hopes of making connections, finding backers or landing deals)

Please note that times may shift slightly as the talk and Q and A sections may not be exactly an hour each.

We are a community based project so we will provide basic sound plug and play set ups. We need you to join in and also join up to assist getting the right people into the event that you think will benefit.

Registration and attendance is free. Click here to register for the event.

We hope to see you there.
