The Masked Singer South Africa returns with more razzle, more dazzle and jaw-dropping disguises

Eye-popping costumes, show-stopping performances, mind-bending mystery, and the country’s most famous faces trying to hide their identities while having the time of their lives. That can only be The Masked Singer South Africa – and it’s back with a bang!

After two spectacular seasons that had everybody guessing and singing along, this fun-for-the-whole-family, SAFTA award-winning television extravaganza makes a welcome return to our screens on Saturday, 4 July at 19:00. This time, all the crazy, larger-than-life and unmissable action will unfold at The Masked Singer South Africa’s new home on SABC 2.

And so the intrigue and detective work begin. Who are on the list of sixteen A++ local celebrities performing incognito behind the dazzling Masks? What extraordinary new characters will take centre stage? And what other surprises do producers Rose and Oaks Media and Primedia Studios have tucked beneath their production capes?

What’s certain is that The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3 will be bigger, bolder and more spectacular than ever before.

Anele Mdoda, co-founder and CEO of Rose and Oaks Media, says:

“Expect the wow factor that made The Masked Singer South Africa the talk of the town, but multiply it by at least three. It’s going to be wild! You won’t believe your eyes when the personalities behind the Masks are revealed. We’re talking mega-mega stars. And the Masks themselves are absolutely out of this world. Think glitz, glamour and extravagance on an epic scale.”

However, only one will ultimately claim the coveted Golden Mask Trophy – the costumed performer whose identity remains a mystery thanks to breathtaking performances all the way to the end. In Season 1, SAMA-winning singer-songwriter Holly Rey tasted sweet victory as the adorable Lollipop. Then, four-time SAFTA-winning actor Warren Masemola and his long-necked alter ego, the exuberant and quirky Giraffe, stood tall as the Season 2 champion.

Among the other household names who kept South Africa guessing are international superstar and UFC champion Dricus du Plessis, former Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida, Bafana Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo, former Springbok captain Victor Matfield, and investigative journalist Devi Sankaree Govender. Movers and shakers such as Maps Maponyane, Boity Thulo and Jessica Nkosi also left audiences mystified.

And that’s only scratching the surface. The full list of celebrities who have donned disguises on The Masked Singer South Africa is seriously impressive, making this season’s line-up even more enticing.

Meanwhile, there’s no need to wonder anymore who the other key players in The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3 will be.

Mpho Popps will once again step into the spotlight as the dashing, razor-sharp host, navigating the cryptic clues, chaos and curveballs that come with every investigation.

And the detective panel racking their brains to solve the obscure cases?

Take a bow: the show’s seasoned celebrity supersleuths Somizi Mhlongo, Skhumba, J’Something and Sithelo Shozi will have their clue-cracking minds tied in knots once more as they attempt to decipher even the tiniest breadcrumb of evidence dropped by the Masks – whether hidden in their outrageously clever costumes, woven into the songs they perform, or revealed through their interactions with the suave and supercool Men in Black.

Robyn Verweij, SABC 2 Acting Head of Channel, says:

“With The Masked Singer South Africa’s irresistibly entertaining format, high-profile personalities and proven ability to charm viewers of all ages, SABC 2 is the perfect home for Season 3. It’s set to be another massive hit, with entire families putting their theories about the Masks to the test from the comfort of their couches.”

The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3 is also a natural fit for sponsor Andolex®, South Africa’s leading brand for sore throat and mouth.

Sarianne Opie, Country Head of iNova Pharmaceuticals South Africa, says:
