Starbucks South Africa introduces Ube Vanilla to its Summer 2 beverage range
Picture a subtle purple latte in your hand. It’s nothing like you would expect. The colour will grab your attention, and the taste is more intriguing. It is smooth, nutty and sweet with a warmth that settles in like vanilla. This is Ube Vanilla, the newest seasonal addition to the Starbucks South Africa menu.
Ube (pronounced oo-beh) is a purple yam that has been part of Filipino kitchens for generations, used in desserts, sweets and celebrations. It carries vanilla-like undertones, which is why the pairing with coffee or matcha works so well. Have it once and it could become your seasonal favourite.
The lineup brings six beverages to the table:
- Ube Vanilla Velvet Latte,
- Iced Ube Vanilla Velvet Latte,
- Iced Ube Vanilla Matcha Latte,
- Ube Vanilla Velvet Matcha Latte,
- Ube Vanilla Frappuccino® and
- Ube Vanilla Cream Frappuccino®.
Ishan Natalie, Central Operations, Category and Coffee Excellence Lead at Starbucks South Africa, says:
“Each one has its own character. The warmth of a well-made latte, the vanilla notes, the espresso blends. These are flavours that feel like home. Ube is easy to love and even easier to order again.”
Indulge in the last stretch of hot summer days. The Ube Vanilla range is available now at Starbucks stores across South Africa. Visit your nearest store or order through Uber Eats and Mr Delivery.
