Roodepoort Theatre Launches the West Rand Family Market

Roodepoort Theatre, in partnership with Evo Events, is proud to announce the launch of the West Rand Family Market, a new monthly community event taking place on the theatre grounds. The first market will be held on Sunday, 30 August 2026, with gates open from 11:30 to 18:30. Tickets are priced at R50 per person, with children under 12 attending free of charge.

The West Rand Family Market brings together local food and craft vendors and a full day of family entertainment, hosted by MC Nadeem Solomon. The day’s programme showcases up-and-coming West Rand talent across live music, comedy, and a range of other performances, offered alongside a vibrant market atmosphere featuring unique local vendors and a variety of food and beverage offerings.

A highlight of the day will be the Karaoke Competition, open to the public with free entry, though spots are limited to 20 participants. Competitors are required to register in advance and submit three song choices. The registration process will be shared on Roodepoort Theatre’s social media platforms closer to the event. The top three performers will walk away with cash prizes, a dining experience at Joburg STAGES Restaurant, and show tickets to the Joburg Theatres Panto.

Throughout the day, visitors will also stand a chance to win in the market’s lucky draw, with prizes including tickets to the Joburg Theatres Panto and to a Roodepoort Theatre show of their choice.

STAGES Restaurant will be on-site with a special supersized market-day menu, including a 1kg Big Daddy Sirloin served with fries, onion rings, and a roasted garlic hummus, and the STAGES Quad Stacker, a four-patty burger loaded with the restaurant’s signature toppings and house sauce, served with fries and onion rings.

Accessible parking will be available on-site, and the venue grounds are equipped to accommodate visitors safely and comfortably throughout the day.

Nomzamo Ntuli General Manager Marketing and Communications, says:

“The West Rand Family Market is about creating a space where the community can come together in a relaxed, joyful environment. We wanted to build something that brings families back to the theatre grounds not just for a show, but for an entire day of connection, good food, and live entertainment. This is the start of a monthly tradition we hope becomes a firm favourite for families across the West Rand.”

The West Rand Family Market will run monthly. Confirmed dates for the season are:

  • 30 August 2026
  • 27 September 2026
  • 25 October 2026
  • 29 November 2026
  • 28 February 2027
