Nontando Mposo is next Crown Chasers’ guest judge
Nontando Mposo – the award-winning journalist, turned Editor-in-Chief of Glamour South Africa, Africa’s leading women focused magazine – makes her appearance as a guest judge on the Miss South Africa television series Crown Chasers on S3 on Saturday, July 13 at 20h30 (with a repeat on Sunday at 13h00).
She joins the show’s regular judges Leandie du Randt and Lerato Kganyago.
Durban born Mposo studied architecture through the Durban University of Technology before making the transition to media. As Editor-in-Chief of Glamour, she is responsible for overseeing the editorial process and content for the publication. She also works as a brand consultant, stylist and freelance creative director.
Saturday’s episode sees the remaining Miss South Africa Chasers embrace their journey as a ‘Worth In Progress‘. In a celebration of natural beauty and finding their own worth, the Top 15 get ready with L’Oreal Paris in a fun mini challenge that puts their hair, makeup and skincare routines to the test. They take to the stage with an inspirational TED talk and let their natural beauty shine through in another photoshoot challenge. At the end of the show, one contestant is eliminated, leaving 14 in the running to take the crown.
Mposo is delighted to be joining the judging panel:
“It was an honour to be part of the experience and I enjoyed spending time with the resident judges. I hope my experience and expertise in beauty and fashion came in handy. It was a special opportunity to get to know the Miss South Africa contestants as they went through their special challenges; it’s hard work but fun and entertaining.”
“The finalists underwent a few beauty and public speaking tasks too. The beauty social media challenge showcased their skills in social media content creation and the TED Talk contest showcased their abilities in public speaking and storytelling.”
Mposo explains what she was looking for when it comes to a potential Miss South Africa 2024 title holder:
“She must be someone who exudes confidence from the inside out, well-spoken and who is well versed in women empowerment and who genuinely cares about South Africa and bettering the lives of those who live in it.”
Her advice for the Chasers:
“Individuality triumphs everything! So be yourself, take advice from Werner (Wessels, creative director at the Miss South Africa Organisation and stylist extraordinaire) as he is an expert at this, and enjoy the process. Congratulations for making it so far and believe in yourself and your abilities. This is not an easy process to undergo so pat yourself on the back!”
The Top 15 are: Chidimma Adetshina, Kebalepile Ramafoko, Kirsten Khan, Layla Zoubair, Lebohang Khoza, Lethaukuthula Maseko, Mia Le Roux, Naledi Matlakala, Nobuhle Langa, Nolene Spinks, Nompumelelo Maduna, Onalenna Constantin, Ontshiametse Tlhopane, Palesa Lombard and Taahira Katz.
