Original South African Youth Production Celebrates SA’s Diverse Myths and Legends.
I bet you’ve heard of the Tokoloshes. They’re trending on Twitter, they’re igniting Instagram, they are the face of Facebook, and not for the right reasons. But don’t worry, Tiny the Tokoloshe is on a mission to change the reputation of Tokoloshe’s all over the country. After all, they’re delightful dream weavers, not hairy scary creatures!
Tiny the Tokoloshe and Other African Tales is a fun-filled, home-grown theatre experience for the whole family. This 60 minute show is jam-packed with classic and original stories from across the country, bringing together the ancient magical myths of African villages with the legends of the platteland narrated by Oom Schalk Lourens, and the toe-tapping tales of Johannesburg townships.
Each story is woven through music and song, taking the audience on an eclectic journey through the histories and cultures of our vibrant country, making friends and learning to love each other along the way.
While aimed at the youth, mom and dad will most definitely also find this production entertaining – and even learn a thing or two!
Tiny The Tokoloshe And Other African Tales is running at Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Studio from 6 – 29 September. Tickets from R150 available through Computicket.
