It’s an all-women team for the Miss South Africa finale

… in alignment with Women’s Month celebrated throughout August

Fittingly for Women’s Month (August), all those involved in this year’s Miss South Africa live pageant finale are women! The eagerly anticipated event takes place at the SunBet Arena at Time Square, Pretoria, this Saturday and will be screened on S3 from 18h00.

At the helm is Miss South Africa CEO, Stephanie Weil, renowned for her conceptualisation and revolutionary reimagining of the big pageant picture. Says Weil:

“The infusion of girl power has significantly changed the way decisions are made and the way things are run. Female empowerment, diversity, realising potential, compassion, purpose, sound mental and physical health and advocacy are all part of the Miss South Africa Organisation.”

For the third year in a row, Black Swan Media Executive Producer, Relebogile Mabotja, will produce the live show. An experienced television producer with a successful history of working in the music industry as a musical director and composer and working as a live stage performer, Mabotja is the afternoon host of 702’s Afternoons with Relebogile Mabotja and presenter of Unpacked with Relebogile Mabotja on television and YouTube. She was also the executive and series producer of the Miss South Africa television series Crown Chasers, recently broadcast on S3.

Says Mabotja:

“This Women’s Month, we celebrate the extraordinary leadership of the Miss South Africa 2024 team, which is proudly led by an all-female ensemble. This diverse group, representing various races has a wealth of experience spanning over two decades and includes women who have excelled on platforms such as Miss South Africa, My Kitchen Rules, The Voice, the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), and the South African Music Awards (SAMAs). These women have taken on pivotal roles such as vision controllers, backstage managers, vision mixers, engineers and technical directors, showcasing significant progress and highlighting how Miss South Africa is propelling women forward. Their leadership is a powerful testament to the strength, resilience and transformative potential of women in shaping a more inclusive and dynamic future. This is a personal agenda I take with me on many projects.”

“This year the Miss South Africa creative team and crew are predominantly female – from  the OB van of engineers, project managers, director’s assistant and more, all the way to floor and backstage managers, production team and interns. We do best to improve these numbers year on year.”

Directing the show once again will be international Technical Director Nadia White who, with over 27-years’ experience in the industry, has directed several high-quality shows from The Voice to The Masked Singer, My Kitchen Rules and Miss South Africa.

In addition to Weil, the Miss South Africa team includes COO Schané Fouché, Miss South Africa manager Nhlanhla Shezi, head of legal Lisa Shein, PR specialist Janine Greenleaf Walker, writer Charmain Naidoo and social media gurus Kopano Tsengiwe and Melissa Carney.

The only male on the Miss South Africa Organisation team is style and fashion specialist Werner Wessels who says:

“I love working in this all-female environment where everyone’s opinion counts; where excellence is the goal. There are no egos, just passionate women working together towards the best possible outcome.”

Entertainment on the night will be provided by Jesse Clegg, Kamo Mphela, Lebo Mashile, Zoë Modiga and sign language activist Andiswa Gebashe, while some of the country’s top fashion designers will be dressing the finalists in a fantastic fashion-forward Miss South Africa 2024 finale. They are Anel Botha, Gert-Johan Coetzee, Londeka Buthelezi-Ndaba and Lydia Mbayo.

Discover who will be Miss South Africa 2024 and ultimately take the crown from the current incumbent Natasha Joubert. The Miss South Africa 2024 Red Carpet will be broadcast on S3 (formerly SABC 3) from 17h30 – 18h00, with the live Miss South Africa 2024 Finale following from 18h00 – 20h30.
