Mandisi Dyantyis Announces “Symphonic Celebration” A Landmark Orchestral Theatre Tour Across South Africa

Acclaimed Afro-Soul-Jazz artist, Mandisi Dyantyis is set to embark on an exclusive run of orchestral performances across South Africa with his highly anticipated Symphonic Celebration Tour. Presented in collaboration with Real Wired Music, the production will see Dyantyis perform alongside full symphonic orchestras in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town, reimagining some of the most defining compositions from his catalogue in a grand theatrical setting.

Following a series of sold-out performances around the country, Symphonic Celebration expands Mandisi Dyantyis’ live experience into something even more immersive, pairing his powerful voice, regular band and vocal ensemble with some of South Africa’s most respected orchestras. Audiences can expect emotionally charged renditions of songs from acclaimed projects including Somandla, Cwaka and Intlambululu, elevated through lush orchestral arrangements crafted specifically for this production.

The tour opens at The Playhouse Opera House in Durban on 29 and 30 May 2026, with the celebrated KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra. It moves to Montecasino Teatro in Johannesburg for a three-night run from 3 to 5 July 2026, featuring the Egoli Symphonic Orchestra. The tour concludes with a One Night Only performance at the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town on 22 August 2026, alongside the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

Born and raised in Gqeberha, Mandisi Dyantyis has steadily established himself as one of South Africa’s most respected musical voices. A graduate of the University of Cape Town with a Masters degree in Jazz Studies earned with distinction, his career spans performance, composition, theatre and musical direction. Beyond his award-winning solo work, Dyantyis has toured internationally with the Isango Ensemble Theatre Company and received a NAACP nomination for Best Musical Director.

His albums Somandla and Cwaka have earned multiple accolades, including recognition at the South African Music Awards, while his recent work continues to expand his artistic reach. In recent years, Dyantyis composed the score for the acclaimed documentary Rise, The Siya Kolisi Story, created music for the ballet production Nina, By Whatever Means, and represented South Africa at International Jazz Day Global Concert in both 2021 and 2024.

Symphonic Celebration is the convergence of everything that has made Mandisi Dyantyis one of South Africa’s most essential musical voices, the intimacy of his songwriting, the power of live performance, and the sheer grandeur of orchestral music, delivered across three world-class stages, for a limited number of nights. This is an experience that, by its very nature, cannot be repeated.

With previous orchestral performances selling out rapidly, audiences are encouraged to secure tickets early.
