Londeka Buthelezi-Ndaba is Crown Chasers’ next guest judge

Entrepreneur and owner of the Dream House brand and fashion label Malondié, Londeka Buthelezi-Ndaba, is the latest guest judge to appear on the Miss South Africa television series Crown Chasers, which will be broadcast on S3 on Saturday, July 20 at 20h30 (with a repeat on Sunday at 13h00).

She joins the show’s regular judges Leandie du Randt and Lerato Kganyago.

Founded in 2015 by Buthelezi-Ndaba, who completed her LLB so she could also work as a fashion lawyer, Malondié is a dynamic, award-winning womenswear label which featured last year at Cape Town Fashion Week with African Fashion International (AFI), followed by a second appearance at Johannesburg Fashion Week. Buthelezi-Ndaba has also garnered international recognition, shipping her creations from Botswana to the US and UK.

In Saturday’s episode, the Chasers’ business acumen and potential to be brand ambassadors are put to the test when they get the opportunity to showcase their ability to style a versatile wardrobe for a day in the life of a Miss South Africa. The main challenge raises the bar when the contestants find themselves creating, designing and developing a capsule collection and business strategy for Forever New. At the end of the show, one contestant will be eliminated.

Buthelezi-Ndaba is delighted to be joining the judging panel:

“It is a great honour to be in a panel choosing our next winner. I feel a great responsibility to the country to ensure that they get a queen they will be proud of. More than anything, I hope I was able to share the importance of developing yourself as a woman, in any field or industry you may be in. Self-development plays a crucial role in gaining self-awareness, grows confidence and your mindset and builds healthier relationships.”

The 2024 winner will be crowned at Sun International’s flagship venue, the SunBet Arena at Time Square, Pretoria on Saturday, August 10, in what promises to be a spectacular and entertainment-packed show that will, once again fittingly, take place during Women’s Month. Tickets available now through Ticketpros.

She answered some questions ahead of the episode which is titled Fashion Forward:

Why should audiences watch Crown Chasers?

Crown Chasers allows the audiences an opportunity to get to know the contestants before the crowning. It is important for the audience to see the capabilities of their next queen as this is the person who will be representing the country and possibly the world. Owning the crown comes with a lot of responsibilities, so it requires a person who will lead with intellect, grace, bravery and thoughtfulness.

Tell us about the challenges the contestants faced and what it showed you about them?

Some are still finding themselves and fear holds them back, which translates into them not being able to perform well in their weekly challenges. It is important that they find comfort in being themselves and follow instructions given. Also research, research, research! Knowing and understanding challenges gets you ahead.

What are you looking for when it comes to a potential Miss South Africa 2024?

I am looking for a great leader, a role model and a person who is a beacon of inspiration and empowerment. The person should display intelligence, charisma and excellent communication skills. She must possess grace, elegance and poise.

Any advice for the contestants?

Remember to learn as much as you can in this competition. Everything you are doing now is preparing you for the future.  Also remember to have fun and build meaningful relationships. I am so proud of all the contestants – I know it hasn’t been an easy journey. They should pat themselves on the back and celebrate their success.
