Liam Bosman bids Deep Waters farewell with big plans

He has always had a big imagination and dreams of becoming everything from a veterinarian to a concert pianist. But the spotlight called, and Liam Bosman’s first role in a professional production was that of Sampie in the 2016 film “Vir Die Voëls“.

Over the past few years, we’ve come to know him as Johan Swarts in the telenovela Diepe Waters. Liam has also appeared in the kykNET drama series “Mooiweer en Warm“.

However, Monday night, February 26, marks the last time viewers will see Johan Swarts in Diepe Waters. Liam has decided to climb out of the pool and spread his wings.

He says the biggest challenge of playing Johan was to become swim-fit.

“Two months before we started filming, we swam day in and day out. I lost 8 kg and was so fit that I could swim two lengths, climb out of the pool, and be ready for my dialogue on camera without being out of breath.”

If he has to single out three people on Diepe Waters who have become mentors to him, it’s Justin Strydom and Nadia Valvekens, as well as Gert van Niekerk, one of the directors of the series. “They taught me so much about story and character and the Deeper meaning behind everything. I will carry the lessons I learned from them with me for the rest of my life. It’s something money can’t buy, and it completely changed how I approach my work.”

Dream big, because you only have one life. That’s his motto. “Each person is dealt different cards in life. It’s what you make of it that matters. Nobody gets a second chance, and you can only do everything in your power to do your best.”

Liam doesn’t just want to work as an actor but also wants to write scripts and show his skills behind the camera as a director. He spent some time in America at the age of 15 and plans to go back. “If you aim, you have to aim high,” he says. “I dream of one day working with directors like Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, and Guy Ritchie, and if I get the chance to be in front of the camera with Jonah Hill, Shia LaBeouf, or Jason Bateman, I’ll definitely not say no.”

Liam’s fans can rest assured, though. He will be seen again in a kykNET series in the near future. More than that, however, cannot be disclosed at this time.
