Lovely Lady Zamar battles the banker on Deal or No Deal South Africa

In the previous episode of Primedia Studios’ hugely popular game show, Deal or No Deal Celebrity, seeing Mzansi A-listers putting their hearts on the line for charity, the Amapiano and TikTok sensation Chad Jones wrangled R35 000 out of the show’s notorious banker in support of kids who experienced trauma. This week’s celebrity in the Deal or No Deal hot seat is the soulful songstress Lady Zamar.

The multiple award-winning powerful performer and songwriter, whose accolades include three SAMAs, chose a charity that could have significantly impacted her parents’ lives when she grew up.

Lady Zamar will play for Paediatric Care Africa, an organization looking after children across the continent, providing medical care and expensive surgery.

At the start of the show, she explains to host Katlego Maboe that she grew up as a “very sickly child“, which meant her family had to make sacrifices to pay the high medical bills.

“If there had been a charity like Paediatric Care Africa around, it might have assisted my parents. So for me, being able to give back to a charity that helps in this regard, even if it’s just with medication, is a big thing for me.”

During the show, viewers will learn more about this resilient star who also passionately raises awareness about gender-based violence, mental health and education.

Between opening the briefcases, which might land Paediatric Care Africa anything between R1 and a whopping R250 000, Lady Zamar shares how and why she started her now illustrious career at a young age performing alongside up-and-coming hip-hop artists. We also learn more about the stories behind her chart-topping music numbers, including how Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” inspired “Charlotte“, the Lady Zamar hit she wrote for Prince Kaybee. And don’t be surprised if she breaks into song on the show!
