kykNET’s motor show La’t Wiel returns with a powerful 33rd season full of style and speed
With an incredible 32 seasons behind them, the La’t Wiel team is back on air from 14 October with a brand-new 33rd season – and this time, Hannes Visser, Waldo van der Waal, and André Weideman promise once again to make the fuel pump through every petrolhead’s veins! As always, they bring something for everyone: from affordable to extravagant, from calm to rugged, from Polos to Porsches.
“When expensive cars are featured, viewers often say they’d rather see something more affordable and realistic,” says Hannes. “But when we show cheaper cars, those same viewers say they want to see the luxurious, desirable models. The truth is, all cars are expensive these days – but in this new season, we’ve tested a wide variety of vehicles – truly something for everyone.”
And there’s plenty to look forward to!
The new season kicks off with the ultra-luxurious Land Rover Defender Octa, where Hannes’s hair is left windswept in a convertible as he puts the mighty vehicle to the test. Then the team takes on the latest version of Porsche’s legendary 911, experiencing the pure joy of precision and power on four wheels. Hyundai also launches a new premium SUV – and, of course, La’t Wiel gives it a thorough test drive.
They also spend time with one of Ingolstadt’s newest, fastest, and most opulent machines, the Audi RSQ8, and explore questions like: Why is Suzuki achieving such success in South Africa lately? The team also attends the media launch of Kia’s Sorento, an SUV that perfectly balances style, space, and technology.
But La’t Wiel isn’t just about price tags and horsepower. The team delves into fascinating motoring topics:
- How safe are modern car touchscreens?
- What makes the Toyota Hilux a true South African legend?
- Where can you go with a Lexus?
- And who is South Africa’s best off-road racer?
On the more affordable end of the spectrum, they review models like the Suzuki DZire, Honda HR-V, and Tata Harrier, proving that quality doesn’t have to empty your wallet.
“The Porsche 911 will always stand out,” says Hannes. “And even the toughest Cruiser guys will fall in love with the new Defender Octa. They’re all on the pricey side, but at least you can see where your money goes.”
With all these highlights and more, La’t Wiel’s 33rd season once again sets the standard for motoring insight, adventure, and pure driving pleasure.
