Will “shy” Will strike it lucky on Finding The One?
M-Net’s light-hearted original new dating show starts this Sunday!
His name is William, or Will for short; he’s a hip DJ and the big kahuna behind one of the country’s hippest music festivals. He can churn out a gentle tune on the guitar; he is stylish and easy on the eye and enjoys chilling with his amazing, fun-loving circle of friends. So, his life is pretty sorted, hey? Not so much! Unlike his buddies, Will is still single, yearning to settle down with the lady of his dreams.
But why? Will says it’s because he’s too shy, but if you ask his friends, they have a different take on Will’s little dating dilemma.
To help people like Will, M-Net 101 and series producers Okuhle Media created the brand new original dating show, Finding The One, which hits our screen this week Sunday at 18:00. The premise of the show is that the people who spend plenty of time in your company may just be more knowledgeable about your romantic needs and more successful than the artificial intelligence of dating sites.
In each episode, viewers will meet the one looking for love as well as three people who are supposed to know him or her well enough to play matchmaker. After scouring the Finding The One online database for the best three candidates, two of the matchmakers then get to know the candidates a little better during a fun group date. But these two “fixers” also have to persuade the candidates that a blind date with the love seeker will be worth their while. At the same time, the third matchmaker visits the homes of the candidates to snoop around. What’s in their fridge? What does the bedroom look like? What’s weird in the bathroom? Are the personalities they’re putting forward at the group date matching up with the evidence in their living spaces?
Once all the matchmakers have shared their notes, they set up the blind date. But there are no guarantees! The chosen one can decide if he or she wants to pitch up for the date – and if the date does happen it can be fun times or absolutely catastrophic!
31-year-old Will McIntyre from Craighall Park’s matchmakers are his close buddies Tahl, Greg and Gareth. 38-year old business Tahl Evian believes he is a great judge of character while 35-year old Greg Walsh is of the opinion that he is actually more mature than Tahl and will act as the “voice of reason” among the three matchmakers. Gareth Devore, also 35, is the co-owner of Will’s production company. He only wants the best for “his brother from another mother”.
As a group, they have his best interests at heart, but will they agree when it’s time to choose Will’s special lady? Will Will like her? And, more importantly, will she like him?
Finding The One will be screened on M-Net 101 every Sunday at 6pm from 6 October 2019. It will also be available on DStv CatchUp.
