This week Lorna Maseko visits the beautiful town of Paternoster with celebrity ceramicist and founder of the Inxwala Slow Market, Lungiswa (Lungi) Joe. Together they sample flavours that come directly from the land. The pair start their day with a thrilling buggy ride, followed by a visit to Leeto Restaurant for some delicious authentic dishes and to soak up the spectacular coastal views.
Sampling more local flavours, Lorna heads to Veldrift town where she meets Saralize Tolken, who produces the dried fish speciality, Bokkoms, a well-known delicacy from the West Coast region. She also meets foraging expert Loubie Rausch to learn more about the hero ingredients – dune spinach, sea pumpkin and sea parsley.
To finish the trip, Lorna visits Chef Adél at the tiny rustic bistro, Oep VeKoep Bistro where Adél showcases her sensational cooking skills when serving up a mouth-watering dish using the hero ingredients.
Using local ingredients and the tips she has learnt along the way; Lorna prepares scrumptious Tom Yum-inspired bokkom and dune spinach broth.
