Dodo Nyoka ends 2024 with “Meisie” – a cheerful party song!

2024 has been an unforgettable year for Dodo Nyoka, who has firmly established himself as one of South Africa’s most versatile artists. The year brought many highlights, including the release of his deeply personal song As Ek Opstaan (written for his future wife), followed by his first English single, “Dancin’ In The Stars“, and the surprise duet “Ek Verstaan” with his mentor from Die Kontrak, Karlien van Jaarsveld.

Now, at the close of this successful year, Dodo treats his fans to a brand-new party track titled Meisie. This feel-good Afrikaans pop song celebrates the festive spirit of holidays with friends and family.

The song was written in response to a fan request on TikTok.

“One of my fans asked me in the comments to write a party song like ‘Country Girl van Bloem’ for December, so I did,” Dodo explains. He adds, “I think it’s a great song for the summer season. I always try to listen to my fans when creating songs, and that’s exactly what I did here. I’m always open to good advice from anyone.”

With Meisie, Dodo aims to bring people together.

“I want my music to make people happy in a world full of conict. I dream of making people feel like they’ve met me through my music. People will enjoy this song because it’s fresh and dierent.”

The release of Meisie also includes a music video directed by Eric T Graham and Tehan Buys from ETC Creative. Filmed at The Grove Mall in Pretoria, the video captures the nostalgic feel of an old-school date.

“We wanted the music video to feel as natural as possible, so this time, we just had fun on set,” Dodo shares.

One of Dodo’s highlights of the year was performing with Francois van Coke at Afrikaans is Groot.

“It was a dream come true to stand on that stage,” he says.

With Meisie, a song celebrating the joy of December and good times, Dodo ends 2024 on a high note. His unique ability to convey messages of unity and happiness through his music sets him on a path to reach even greater heights in 2025.
