Every morning, Nadia leaves home before dawn to make the long commute from her home in Hanover Park to Sea Point in Cape Town’s tourist hub. It’s a daily journey taken by millions of working-class South Africans between our cities’ lower-cost outskirts and their centres, where money and opportunity are distilled. But now, a prime government-owned site in Sea Point has become the symbol of a struggle for urban spatial justice. Will a landmark Constitutional Court judgement spark a reckoning with the geographical legacy of our divided cities?
