Workshop17 Laces Up for Little Lions Loop, Champions Children’s Mental Health

When Sweet Spot, a Workshop17, member, invited the coworking space to join last year’s Little Lions Loop, the experience made an impact. Enough of an impact that Workshop17 is returning for the 2026 event on Monday, 9 February, this time sponsoring 10 mental health coaching sessions for children and rallying its entire Cape Town Network to participate.

The Little Lions Loop is a 5km run and walk that raises funds for Little Lions Child Coaching, an organisation placing mental health tools in the hands of children across Khayelitsha, Mfuleni and beyond. For many of these young people, access to emotional support would otherwise remain out of reach.

What began as a member introduction has grown into a meaningful partnership. Workshop17’s participation reflects its broader philosophy: that work exists within the context of wellbeing, not apart from it.

Penelope Meniere, Marketing Manager at Workshop17, said:

“Wellbeing and mental health are core values at Workshop17, so supporting Little Lions feels like a natural extension of who we are. We believe that work is just one part of a balanced, healthy life, and when we can contribute to the emotional wellbeing of children who might otherwise never access mental health support, that’s something worth showing up for.”

Little Lions Child Coaching works directly with children in Khayelitsha and Mfuleni, providing practical mental health tools that help young people understand their emotions, build confidence and develop resilience. The organisation also partners with groups implementing the Little Lions Programme in George, Somerset West, Johannesburg, Nairobi and Eldoret.

The Little Lions Loop is designed as an inclusive community event open to all fitness levels. Whether participants choose to walk, jog or run, the focus remains on collective action for children’s mental health rather than competitive times.

Each R250 donation provides one child with access to 12 workshop sessions that build emotional awareness and resilience, while R2,500 supports 10 children through a complete programme.

Registration for the Little Lions Loop 2026 is now open. Those unable to participate can still contribute through donations via Stripe and SnapScan. Full registration details and donation links are available on the website.
