This is Love
Love stories – Hyprop Investments launches a nationwide, Wall of Love, public engagement campaign at its shopping centres to celebrate love in all its forms.
Looking to acknowledge and celebrate acts of love of all kinds, and to spread the feel-good-factor, and encourage South Africans to pay it forward, Hyprop Investments (Hyprop) has launched a nationwide campaign across its eight shopping centres called: ‘This is Love’, in partnership with PNA.
“Love” means different things to different people. So, what does love look like in 2022?
To visualise love in all its forms, Hyprop engaged digital creative artist Mignon Rochato. The Cape Town-based Rochato, in her own words, likes to use her creative skills to: “add a little colour to this sometimes-monochrome world we live in.” This, she has certainly achieved with her depiction of “This is Love.”
Hyprop has now taken this work of art and transposed it into a paint-by-numbers mural, which will be erected at each of its shopping centres across the country. Consumers and businesses are encouraged to fill in the gaps with their creative touches to the mural – forming eight giant colourful pictures to add a little much-needed love and colour to the country.
The activation at each of the shopping centres will take place from 04 – 14 February 2022.
Thereafter, until the end of the month, visitors will be encouraged to visit the murals, share their love stories and snapshots, and continue spreading the love. Being Hyprop, each of the centres will have a variety of competitions and incentives to encourage visitors to share their acts of love and kindness.
The 6 kinds of positive love depicted in the mural encompass:
- Eros – romantic and passionate
- Storge – familial love, natural affection
- Philia – platonic, friendship
- Agape – divine love – a meeting of the souls
- Xenia – hospitality/guest love
- Philautic – self-love
“Kindness, compassion, affection towards others – people (including oneself), animals and the world we live in. A desire for good of another, that’s what we want South Africans to show and share,” commented Riegardt Marais, Head of Retail Marketing at Hyprop Investments. “The more we all share our stories and acts of love, the better we can all do for the country. The ‘This is Love’ campaign is our way of uniting South Africans with love and the murals can be a lasting reminder of just how brilliant an act of love can be.”
Hyprop Shopping Centres where murals can be painted are:
- Canal Walk, Capegate, Clearwater Mall, Hyde Park Corner, Rosebank Mall, Somerset Mall, The Glen and Woodlands.
Hyprop Heroes:
- Acts of selfless love deserve to be celebrated.
Hyprop is encouraging people to share their stories and acts of love on social media, by visiting the mural at their local shopping centre, taking a pic, and uploading it to each centre’s Instagram page and tagging them, with the centre-specific hashtag:
- Canal Walk – #ThisIsLoveMural
- Capegate – #ThisIsLoveAtCG
- Clearwater Mall – #ThisIsLoveAtCWM
- Hyde Park Corner – #ThisIsLoveAtHPC
- Rosebank Mall – #ThisIsLoveAtRBM
- Somerset Mall – #ThisIsLoveAtSM

This is one campaign, that all South Africans should be a part of – not just for February, but for life.
