After a wildly successful debut season, VR Theatrical’s production of The Jungle Book returns by huge public demand! This imaginative stage adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s timeless tale is back at the Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theatre in Johannesburg.

Set in the wilds of the jungle, The Jungle Book follows Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves, as he learns about life, friendship, and bravery. With guidance from Bagheera, the wise panther, and Baloo, the easygoing bear, Mowgli must ultimately face Shere Khan, the fierce tiger. Packed with humor, warmth, and exciting moments, this production brings Kipling’s classic tale to life, making it the perfect outing to start the year.

Meet the Cast

This talented cast takes on Kipling’s beloved characters with a fresh approach, each actor bringing multiple jungle roles to life. Noluthando Mathebula stars as the young and spirited Mowgli, while Jordyn Schaefer embodies the cunning Kaa, the python with a twist of mystery. Sia Makakane portrays Bagheera, the protective panther, and Brett de Groot commands the stage as Shere Khan, the Bengal tiger who sees Mowgli as a threat. John Tsenoli doubles as both the mischievous Monkey King Louis and Akela, the dignified leader of the wolf pack, and Grant Towers completes the cast as Baloo, the carefree bear who brings humor and warmth as Mowgli’s mentor and friend. With Geddes’ direction and Odendaal’s musical compositions, each cast member brings out the heart and adventure of this cherished story.
