Vaughn Prangley Reclaims Sound and Self in Monsters Den

After an unplanned hiatus from music in 2023, following an accident that caused permanent hearing loss in one ear and led to a period of creative silence, South African-born, Dubai-based singer-songwriter Vaughn Prangley returns with Monsters Den – an atmospheric indie-alternative rock single and video about emerging from darkness and reclaiming the will to create.

Known for his deep, soulful voice and cinematic songwriting, Vaughn crafts music that blends emotional clarity with textured production. Written and self-produced over eight months in his studio, Monsters Den layers haunting vocals, reverberant guitars, shimmering synths, and the toll of church bells to create a soundscape that feels both shadowed and luminous – reflecting the song’s themes of doubt, rebellion, and resilience. The process itself became part of the story: countless takes, moments of frustration, and ultimately the persistence needed to finish the track.

“The monsters are your thoughts, and the den is your mind,” Vaughn says. “This song isn’t about being a victim – it’s about resilience.”

The music video translates those inner struggles into stark, cinematic imagery. Intimate studio moments intertwine with symbolic scenes of isolation, ritual, and rebirth, culminating in a cathartic visual resolution. Monsters Den marks the beginning of a new chapter for Vaughn – one defined by creative renewal and determination. More music is already in progress, including an EP planned for 2026 that will expand from the cinematic textures of this single into more upbeat, blues-driven territory.
