“Tolly” Parton Is On Her Way To Emperors Palace!
Wynand Kotze, Vanrhynsdorp’s former head boy, is now a drag queen named Tollie Parton. How does something like this even happen and why do people keep thinking she’s Casper de Vries with (bigger) breasts?
Tollie’s new show Hoofseun is a comical, highly infectious, semi-offensive look at what it really means to face the expectations of a small Afrikaans town as a drag queen, and is live on Sunday, 5 October at 3PM at Emperors Palace’s Theatre of Marcellus.
The show is packed with personal stories about her days as a head boy, her family, and her experiences within the Afrikaner community; and despite the fact that no one asked for it, Tollie introduces the country to her new “sokkie hit“, van Hoofseun tot Hoofmeisie. Oh, its going to be a riot! Perhaps we should say, “riot“, as some might think that we are instigating civil unrest, but you get the idea!
Wynand Kotze is a country boy with an unhealthy love for ginger biscuits. He is often described as ”straight” and ”funny”. However, he describes himself as ”gay” and ”precocious”. He decided early in his life that despite everything, he wanted to build a life for himself that he could be proud of. He then mostly paid for his own studies, sold his soul for pocket money and decided to share himself with his people and homeland!
He originally graduated as a theatre student and writer, but like any artist, he had to create his own stage. In 2020, Wynand entered the internet and after six months his profile stands at 110,000 followers begging for a show and he is only too happy that he has not had to eat bully beef yet. With a loose tongue and a head firmly on his shoulders, he leaves no stone unturned. He is quick, well-read and his anecdotes are enough to cause side-splitting laughter!
Hoofseun is presented with the kind cooperation of Ambassador Execudrive, Blu Blood, Britz Couriers & Removals, Emperors Palace, Feeste.net, Hollywood Costumes, LTickets, Lift Airlines, Mannah Guesthouse and Conference Centre, Mobilis Auto, RSG, Van Loveren and WS Pianos.
