Daphne Kuhn Announces Theatre On The Square’s Summer Line-Up

Sandton’s beloved Theatre on the Square is set to sparkle this festive season with an exciting new summer line-up that carries through into early 2026. Curated by Daphne Kuhn, the season promises a dynamic mix of comedy, music, new theatre and much-loved return productions — a celebration of the magic and diversity of live performance.

Daphne Kuhn says:

“This season captures everything we love about theatre — laughter, reflection, music and connection. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the year and start 2026 inspired.”

The festive cheer begins in November with Schalk Bezuidenhout’s hilarious Krismis variety show, a night of festive fun and surprise guests guaranteed to get audiences in the holiday spirit. He’s followed by award-winning comedian Stuart Taylor, returning from Cape Town with his Ovation Award-winning hit Odd Man Out, a witty and heartwarming look at life’s many awkward moments. To round off November, Netflix favourite Gilli Apter brings The Hilarious Deep Amazing Comedy Show back home, a laugh-out- loud reflection on relationships, politics and modern life with her signature sharp humour.

As December arrives, the stage transforms into a glittering 1960s celebration with The Jingle Belles, a brand-new festive musical co-produced by Origen Productions. Written and directed by Emma Amber, it’s a nostalgic, toe-tapping blend of harmony, heart and holiday cheer – a perfect feel-good escape for the whole family.

The new year opens with Amy Winehouse – The Diva And Her Demons, marking fifteen years since the star’s passing. This award-winning, intimate production featuring Kerry Hiles, Roscoe Nefdt and Kristo Zondag celebrates Winehouse’s raw talent, humour and unforgettable legacy. February brings the world premiere of Luc Albinski’s moving new play Nobody Told Me, directed by Ilina Perianova and Renos Spanoudes, inspired by a true story of courage and compassion during World War II. Rounding off the summer season is the return of the much-loved musical The Tramp, written and directed by Amanda Bothma, with Daniel Anderson as Charlie Chaplin and Paul Ferreira on piano. A touching, beautifully performed portrait of one of cinema’s greatest icons.

In addition to the evening productions, audiences can still enjoy the theatre’s popular Friday Classical Music Lunch Hour Concerts and a selection of special Sunday Evening Jazz Concerts, offering something for every taste throughout the season.

Looking ahead, theatre-goers can also anticipate highlights such as the Joburg Film Festival, The Opera Singer written and directed by Janna Ramos-Violante, with Fiona Ramsay and Owain Rhys-Davies, Paul Slabolepszy’s The Return of Elvis Du Pisanie starring Ashley Dowds and The Albie Sachs Story: Fathers, Sons And Soft Revenge.

“As we head into the festive season and the new year, our stage is alive with stories that move and inspire. It’s a wonderful time to celebrate the joy of live theatre,” says Kuhn.
