Inside The Mind-Bending Exhibitions Launching At The Museum Of Illusions In Durban
Get ready to question everything you think you know. The Museum of Illusions is officially opening its doors at Gateway Theatre Of Shopping in Durban this week and is set to turn perception on its head with the launch of a series of exciting new exhibitions designed to mesmerise, entertain and challenge the senses.
Featuring a brilliant collection of over 60 exhibits, including perspective-changing rooms, astonishing interactive installations, and spellbinding optical illusions, the Museum of Illusions Durban promises a fun, immersive, and thought-provoking adventure for visitors of all ages.
At the heart of the attraction are the illusion rooms, a series of immersive spaces that quite literally flip reality. Step into the famous Tilted Room, where gravity feels like it’s working against you, explore the Reverse Room which offers a complete change of perspective, and attempt to keep your balance in the dizzying Vortex Tunnel. Each space is designed to disorient, delight and spark curiosity.
Beyond the rooms, guests can engage with a range of interactive installations that blur the line between reality and illusion. From multiplying yourself at the Cloning Table to becoming the star of the surreal Head on a Platter, and experiencing the size-defying Beuchet Chair, these exhibits invite visitors to become part of the illusion itself.
The journey continues with a collection of mind-boggling images and optical illusions, including holograms and mind games that challenge how the brain interprets what the eyes see. It’s a playful yet fascinating exploration of perception, perfect for curious minds of all ages.
Mark Collie, Owner of Museum of Illusions South Africa says:
“We’re incredibly excited to finally open the doors of the Museum of Illusions in Durban. A visit is an experience designed to spark curiosity, wonder, and a little healthy confusion. Our exhibitions prove that seeing is not always believing, and we can’t wait for visitors to laugh, marvel, and leave with a completely new perspective on reality.”
The Museum of Illusions Durban invites locals and tourists alike to get their cameras ready for a mesmerising spectacle that is as educational as it is Instagrammable.
