Hilarious, incisive, poignant new comedy from Sue Diepeveen – Ms.B-haved is here!

Following her last hit, the hilarious one-woman show So You Want to Be a Trophy Wife, Sue Diepeveen presents another incisive comedy, fresh from its premiere at the National Arts Festival.

Ms.B-haved, written and performed by Diepeveen and directed by Natasha Sutherland is an insightful, funny and poignant look at the extremes expected from educators, parents and learners in an ever-changing world and the reaches of cancel culture that have become the norm.

Comments from its debut at the National Arts Festival included:

‘…great variation between humour and pathos and light ness and heaviness.’

‘…it’s a lovely piece of work-very important with a strong message.’

‘Those who are about to watch are in for a treat.’

‘Congratulations to all involved in this very moving production.’

Teacher Sally Burkett is in disgrace! Suspended from Littleman Junior School amidst a scandal unlike any other. Sally thought that her thirty years of teaching had given her immunity to scandal, but the “much loved” Ms Burkett rocked the small school and town, and now she awaits her fate.

She has worked hard to navigate changing policies, updated learning styles, and new age parents–what could she possibly have done to send her into this purgatory, and can she recover? Laugh along with Sally as she ponders her fate and unpacks what brought her to the particular hell of Zoom teaching online!

Ms.B-haved is written and performed by Sue Diepeveen, with Natasha Sutherland as director and story editor. Lighting Design is by Wicus Louw.

“When creating Ms.B-haved, I wanted to make everyone smile but also explore the trepidation, nostalgia and tenacity that happens when inevitable change challenges our identity and worth,” says Diepeveen. “It’s in the laughter of marveling at it all that we can learn how to live, teach, work and parent together!”
