TCL’s FreshIN Technology Redefines What an Air Conditioner Can Do
As consumers become increasingly aware of the impact indoor air quality has on health, comfort and productivity, air conditioning is no longer just about cooling a room. TCL Electronics is shifting that conversation with its FreshIN technology, a patented innovation designed to actively introduce and purify fresh air, transforming the traditional air conditioner into a smarter, healthier home solution.
At the heart of the FreshIN 3.0 Series is TCL’s patented liftable fresh air inlet, a distinctive design feature marked by a small blue wing on the top panel of the unit. When activated, the wing gently extends, visually signalling that fresh outdoor air is being drawn into the room. This air is then directed through the top panel and channelled into the living space, ensuring a continuous supply of cleaner, oxygen-rich air rather than simply recirculating what is already indoors.
Unlike conventional air conditioners, which rely solely on closed-loop circulation, FreshIN technology introduces outside air and subjects it to a rigorous, multi-stage purification process. Incoming air passes through TCL’s QuadruPuri filtration system, which includes a preliminary filter, a silver ion antibacterial layer, a HEPA high-efficiency filter and a high-density filter. Together, these layers work to remove fine particles, reduce bacteria, neutralise odours and optimise humidity levels, delivering noticeably fresher, cleaner air.
The FreshIN experience is further enhanced by visible air quality monitoring. An integrated TVOC sensor continuously detects harmful airborne particles and displays real-time air quality data on the unit, giving users immediate insight into the air they are breathing and reassurance that purification is actively taking place.
A standout feature of the FreshIN 3.0 Series is its ultra-quiet 16dB Fresh Air mode, specifically designed for night-time use. Operating at noise levels as low as 16dB, fresh air flows gently into the room as quietly as breathing, creating a calm and peaceful sleeping environment without disruption.
Designed for modern, connected homes, the FreshIN 3.0 Series is fully compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa. Through the TCL HOME app or voice-enabled smart devices, users can adjust settings, monitor air quality and control their air conditioner remotely, seamlessly integrating it into a broader smart home ecosystem.
Mr Mike Chen, General Manager of TCL South Africa, says that TCL’s FreshIN technology reflects a fundamental rethink of what air conditioning should deliver to consumers today.
“Cooling alone is no longer enough. With FreshIN, we are addressing how people actually live – in enclosed spaces, working from home, spending more time indoors, and becoming increasingly conscious of air quality. FreshIN technology allows fresh outdoor air to enter the room, purifies it through advanced filtration, and gives users visibility and control over their indoor environment. It’s a meaningful step forward in making homes healthier and smarter.”
By combining patented fresh air intake, advanced purification, real-time monitoring and intelligent connectivity, TCL FreshIN technology elevates the air conditioner from a basic appliance to an active wellness solution. As indoor environments continue to play a greater role in everyday life, innovations like FreshIN are setting a new benchmark for comfort, control and clean air in the home.
