Thandi Ntuli announced as  Jozi support act for Gregory Porter!

Pretoria-born jazz pianist and singer Thandi Ntuli has been added to the support artist for the upcoming concerts at Montecasino in November as part of Porter’s Love is King SA Tour.

Ntuli has a rich, textured musical background. An aunt, after whom she was named, was a classical singer. Her uncle Selby Ntuli was a member of celebrated Sixties and Seventies Afro-rock titans Harari. And her grandfather, Levi Godlib Ntuli, instilled a love of playing, singing and composing music together when the family lived int the vibrant cultural hub of Sophiatown.

Over a 16-year career, Ntuli has built a reputation for empathetic frankness and honesty in her performances, sharing with her audiences a perspective on the world that urges them to connect with their experiences past, present and future and in so doing, creating an atmosphere that takes listeners somewhere that feels like home. Her belief that music is community, and caring in community, helps give additional meaning to her lyrics and singing.

“How wonderful to be joining Gregory at Montecasino’s Teatro,” says Ntuli. ‘And I’m also looking forward to sharing my music with audiences that might be different to those who come to my solo shows.”

Hugely popular jazz vocalist Gregory Porter’s return to South Africa has been eagerly anticipated by his fans, with two of his three Montecasino engagements (Friday, 21 November and Saturday, 22 November) already sold out. Get your tickets now for the concert at Montecasino on on Thursday, 20 November, as well as for the Cape Town show on Wednesday 12 November and Porter’s first visit to Durban – he’s playing at the Durban International Convention Centre – on Wednesday 19 November. All tickets for the Love is King SA Tour, presented by Showtime Management and GRIZA Enterprises, are on sale at showtime.co.za and ticketmaster.co.za.

Greg Maloka of Griza Enterprise can’t wait for the shows, saying:

“Thandi and Gregory each have a unique energy, and for audiences to experience these two performers in the same venue and show is a special opportunity.”

Tony Feldman of Showtime Management is equally enthusiastic.

“Seeing the response from audiences to Gregory’s return to South Africa underlines how good he is, with is incredible voice and brilliant songs, at forming and maintaining a personal connection with each of his fans. We are privileged to welcome Thandi Ntuli to the Jozi leg of the Love is King Tour.”
