Everyone’s favourite ogre is back! Shrek JR. is on at Peoples Theatre from 7 November – the ideal way to wrap up the year on a high note!

It’s a “big bright beautiful world” for everyone’s favorite ogre in ‘Shrek’ The Musical JR!

Peoples Theatre is pleased to announce their upcoming production of Shrek JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, taking to the stage from Tuesday, 7 November – Sunday 24 December 2023, making it the ideal way for the whole family to celebrate the end of year.

This rendition of Shrek has been adapted specially for younger audiences. The noble character of Shrek is portrayed in a lovable and fun-filled way to make him engaging and captivating to younger children. Shrek The Musical JR. utilizes the magic of theatre, filled with song, dance and laughter to leave a lasting impression on audiences of all ages.

In a faraway kingdom the green ogre, Shrek, finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfit runaways who’ve been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wise-cracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task – if he rescues feisty Princess Fiona from the Dragon-guarded tower, his swamp will be returned to him, but like any fairy tale it wouldn’t be complete without unexpected twists and turns along the way.

Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR is an irreverently fun show for the whole family. Imaginative sets, costumes and familiar characters that prove that beauty is in the eye of the ogre, Shrek Jr. is an energetic, heart-warming, and hilarious show that you won’t want to miss. Adapted for the stage and featuring top professionals, Shrek Jr. is due to capture new audiences in this dazzling adventure story!
