Blush arrives with striking debut single “A Little Less”

South African newcomer Blush steps into the spotlight today with the release of her debut single, A Little Less, – a bold first offering that signals the arrival of a compelling new voice in alternative pop.

Currently based between South Africa and the United Kingdom, Blush is a graduate of the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, co-founded by Paul McCartney. While this marks her official debut as a solo artist, she’s no stranger to the industry, having spent years behind the scenes as a producer, composer, and sound designer.

With A Little Less, Blush delivers a haunting alternative-pop track that captures the slow unraveling of a connection.

“It lives in that space where you already know something is slipping, but you’re not ready to be the one who lets go,” she explains. “It’s about distance – physical or emotional – and the quiet panic that comes when you feel yourself pulling away from someone.”

The single also introduces a key creative partnership with producer Jono Greyling. Choosing instinct over attachment, the pair scrapped earlier demos and rebuilt the track from the ground up – a decision that paid off. The result is a sound that feels raw, intimate, and unmistakably intentional. Blush led the song’s lyrical and melodic direction, while Greyling shaped its sonic landscape.

Blush’s songwriting leans into instinct and reflection rather than rigid structure.

“I only really understand what a song means once it’s finished,” she says. “I like it that way and it keeps everything honest and unforced.”

A Little Less is the first glimpse into her upcoming EP, Hurt Right which is a body of work that explores the magnetism of human flaws and the tendency to lean into emotional intensity, even when it hurts.

Positioned between alternative rock, shoegaze, and experimental pop, Blush is carving out a sound that’s both atmospheric and emotionally charged.
