Mpumalanga’s Team Khanyisa grooves to victory with Amapiano performance on Clash of the Choirs SA
Northern Province Team Langa bids farewell in an emotional exit despite leaving a lasting impression on the judges
It’s been another memorable week on Mzansi Magic’s Clash of the Choirs SA (COTCSA), where Amapiano’s vibrant sounds echoed through the stage, lifting spirits and moving feet.
This week, Mpumalanga’s Team Khanyisa rose to the top with a moving rendition of Njelic’s Nana Thula, showing off their unmatched ability to create an unforgettable choral experience from South Africa’s hottest music genre. Dr Tumi praised the team for creating an emotional journey, calling their performance “so cool to listen to and watch.” Zwai Bala was straightforward in his admiration, simply stating, “Art.” Buhlebendalo echoed these sentiments, thanking the team for their consistently beautiful and entertaining performances.
However, the competition’s inevitable nature saw the elimination of Northern Province’s Team Langa, despite their impressive effort with Busta 929’s Mmapula. Dr Tumi noted a slight sync issue but overall loved their performance. Zwai observed their hard work, suggesting an extra week of rehearsals might have polished their act, while Buhlebendalo praised their dynamics and lead vocals.
Limpopo’s Team HLE wowed the judges with their rendition of Aymos and Ami Faku’s Fatela. Dr Tumi admired their twist on the song, noting they didn’t try too hard. Buhlebendalo enjoyed their unison, while Zwai was amazed, calling it an act that could be a “special performance on a big night.”
Eastern Cape’s Team Lady Du’s take on Pabi Cooper’s Banyana ke Bafana was a hit, with Dr Tumi appreciating their teamwork and effort. Zwai noted the energy, and Buhlebendalo enjoyed the song’s dynamics but advised less movement during big vocal moments for better focus.
Last week’s winners, KZN’s Team Ntencane, kept momentum with Felo Le Tee’s Ngwana Mani. Dr Tumi praised their consistent creativity, Zwai complimented their clean and beautiful performance, and Buhlebendalo commended their ability to breathe new life into the song.
