Msaki & Jesse Clegg Unveil ‘Entropy’ Short Film: A Cinematic Journey Through Loss, Love And Rebirth
Msaki and Jesse Clegg, two of South Africa’s most respected and internationally recognised artists, invite audiences deeper into their shared creative universe with the release of the Entropy short film, a striking visual companion to their collaborative EP that reimagines the project as a cohesive, cinematic experience.
Developed as a series of interconnected visual chapters, the film brings together the emotional and sonic landscapes of Entropy into one immersive narrative. It traces a quiet yet powerful journey through loss, transformation and rebirth, mirroring the deeply personal themes that underpin the music. Moving fluidly between intimacy and expansiveness, the film captures fleeting moments of vulnerability and connection, reflecting the duo’s evolving relationship both as collaborators and as individuals.
Crafted over three years and spanning multiple cities including Cape Town, Johannesburg, Los Angeles and New York, Entropy has always existed as something far greater than a collection of songs. The short film extends this vision, offering a layered, visual meditation on what it means to seek meaning in a complex and often unpredictable world. Each frame feels intentional, echoing the poetic lyricism and emotional honesty that define both artists’ work.
Directed by Marty Bleazard, the Entropy short film is not bound to a single storyline, but rather unfolds as an interpretive experience, one that allows viewers to find their own reflections within it. It is a testament to Msaki and Jesse Clegg’s shared commitment to storytelling that transcends form, blending sound, image and emotion into a singular artistic statement.
Marty Bleazard shares:
“Once we had decided on a short film in six parts there was no going back… the Entropy Cinematic Universe became real, a reckless love story set against the backdrop of Joburg. Each song on this EP is magical, and I hope everyone connects to the story and characters in some way.”
As the final piece in the Entropy visual journey, the film invites audiences to sit with the music in a new way, not just to hear it, but to see it, feel it, and ultimately, to experience it.
