With the best truck line-up assembled for an international stadium performance, the show will feature eight of the world’s most famous Monster Jam trucks, including Monster Jam World Finals® champions Grave Digger® and Max-DTM, providing an unforgettable experience for the entire family. Monster Energy, Gas Monkey GarageTM, Megaladon®, ZombieTM, El Toro Loco® and Monster Mutt Dalmatian® join the larger than life spectacular that takes place on specially-designed tracks that optimise mobility so the most recognisable trucks in the world can go head to head in wheelies, donuts, obstacle course racing and freestyle competitions pushing the Monster Jam trucks to their limits.

The 2019 Monster Jam season sees trained, world-class international male and female athletes battle it out for supremacy on the track. They have mastered not only the physical strength and mental stamina needed to compete but the vital dexterity to control  4, 500 kg machines capable of doing backflips, vertical two-wheel skills and racing at speeds of up to 110 km per hour to produce jaw-dropping, live motor sports action seen around the world.

El Toro Loco is one raging bull who can the smell fear of its competitors. Driver Becky McDonough is one of the outstanding female Monster Jam drivers and the first ever Monster Jam female crew chief who also holds the 2013 Arena Wheelie of the Year title. Don’t be fooled by the cute ears, tongue and tail of Monster Mutt Dalmatian, the Monster Jam truck driven by fellow female driver, Candice Jolly.  This “puppy” is ferocious on the track! Look out for Bari Musawwir as the ever-popular Zombie comes back from the afterworld to rev up the competition while Linsey Weenk drives Gas Monkey Garage based on the garage made famous in Discovery Channel’s hit television show, Fast N’ Loud.  Driven by Charles Pauken, Grave Digger is one of the most decorated Monster Jam trucks in the world producing championship winning racing.  Possibly the fastest machine in the sport, Max-D is driven by Colton Eichelberger but the title of the most menacing looking Monster Jam truck must surely go to Megaladon, driven by Chad Tingler. Steven Sims drives Monster Energy, the machine that represents a high-profile product with power, drive and of course, loads of energy!

Brought to South Africa by American-based Feld Entertainment and leading local promoter, Showtime Management together with McDonalds in association with SuperSport and regional radio media partners East Coast

MONSTER TRUCKS – HISTORY AND DRIVERS NAMES

EL TORO LOCO – Becky McDonough

El Toro Loco® is one raging bull who can the smell fear of its competitors. In 2001, the custom built bull was introduced to a crowd in Lafayette, Louisiana and a few years later, shared the Freestyle Championship title at the 2004 Monster Jam World Finals®. The El Toro Loco team expanded in 2012 to a four-truck team, adding additional drivers to tame this five-ton beast including Becky McDonough, Chuck Werner, and Marc McDonald. One of the most recognizable Monster Jam trucks in the sport, the crazy bull can be counted on to give its all in the ring. In 2013, El Toro Loco debuted two new looks. A yellow and black El Toro Loco Monster Jam truck joined the ever popular existing orange truck. These two new El Toro Loco Monster Jam trucks will still be a fan favorite and will continue to have the same “raging style” that makes the crazy bull a fan favorite.

GAS MONKEY GARAGE –  Linsey Weenk

Based on the garage made famous in Discovery Channel’s hit television show, Fast N’ Loud, the exciting new Gas Monkey Garage® Monster Jam truck was introduced in 2016. The truck’s body was designed by Gas Monkey Garage owner Richard Rawlings himself.  Based in Dallas, Discovery Channel’s most highly rated and watched show, Fast N’ Loud, features Rawlings, an expert at buying, restoring and selling classic cars and hot rods. Rawlings has created a one-of-a-kind ’70s muscle car body for the Gas Monkey Garage Monster Jam truck and the custom artwork reflects the spirit of the garage.  A team of Monster Jam engineers and technicians designed and build the chassis. Veteran B. J. Johnson was selected to drive Gas Monkey Garage in Monster Jam competition.

GRAVE DIGGER – Charles Pauken

Dennis Anderson came up with the concept for Grave Digger® back in 1981. Originally built out of an old 1957 Chevy Panel Wagon and parts that he scrounged from junkyards, Grave Digger as of today has grown by leaps and bounds. No longer do the trademark red headlights come off of old school buses, and the paint job has changed from a dull orange to the famous green and black flame motif we see today. Grave Digger is one of the most decorated Monster Jam® trucks in the world and Anderson has won four Monster Jam World Finals® championships, capturing the racing title in 2004 and 2006, and the freestyle title in 2010 and 2000. The Grave Digger team that competes at Monster Jam includes Adam Anderson, Carl Van Horn, Charlie Pauken, Jon Zimmer, Pablo Huffaker, Randy Brown, and Morgan Kane in addition to Anderson.

MAX-D – Colton Eichelberger

Perhaps the most striking Monster Jam® truck on the Monster Jam circuit, the body of Max-DSM is officially classified as a “futuristic SUV.” Featuring an orange and silver paint job coupled with a low-to-the-ground, aerodynamic body style, it’s well-known that Max-D is possibly the fastest machine in the sport. In fact, driver Tom Meents has been crowned Monster Jam World Racing Champion no less than six times, the most recent coming at the 2012 Monster Jam World Finals®. But Meents isn’t just the master of speed; he’s quite the daredevil as well, claiming five Monster Jam World Freestyle Championships over his career. In fact, Tom is the only driver ever to win both titles in the same year, and he even managed to do that twice in a row! The Max-D fan base has grown so much in recent years that multiple Max-D Monster Jam trucks are now also touring. Max-D received a make-over for the 2013 season to help celebrate a decade of destruction with two all-new designs.

MEGALADON – Chad Tingler

From the oceans of the pre-historic dark comes the Monster Jam® version of one of the most powerful predators in history: Megalodon! This giant shark (fossil remains suggest a length of 59 feet/18 meters) concept was developed into a Monster Jam truck in 2016, making its competitive debut in Nashville, Tennessee on January 7, 2017. The newest member of the family of Monster Jam beasts, which features foam fins to create a life-like shark wiggle on the track, Megalodon was an instant success in Monster Jam competition, winning the 2017 Monster Jam Triple Threat SeriesTM Central points championship and has quickly become a favorite at pit parties where fans of all ages enjoy getting an up close look at this menacing Monster Jam truck.

MONSTER ENERGY – Steven Sims

Monster Energy entered the Monster Jam® world in 2012 as a major team sponsor when Monster Energy debuted in Birmingham, Alabama. The machine that represents a high-profile product made a big splash right from the start as 2009 Monster Jam World Finals® Freestyle Champion Damon Bradshaw was tabbed to drive the awesome new piece with Bradshaw’s long-time crew chief, Coty Saucier, joining the Monster Energy team at the same time. Monster Energy made an immediate impact on the circuit, winning its first major stadium freestyle competition on January 14, 2012, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, and then winning the racing trophy in the same building the following day. Monster Energy is always a contender to win in both racing and freestyle, as evidenced by the team’s impressive performance at Monster Jam World Finals XIII, in Las Vegas. In that 2012 battle for world titles, Monster Energy, in its first year of competition, advanced all the way through the racing bracket and into the championship race, falling to Max-DSM in the title race by .02 of a second, one of the closest Monster Jam World Finals Championship races in the sport’s history.

MONSTER MUTT DALMATIAN – Candice Jolly

Imagine if your family dog suddenly sprouted six foot tyres instead of legs and grew to almost twelve feet tall; now you have a pretty good picture of Monster Mutt®. There are actually four versions of the canine of carnage: the original brown Monster Mutt, Monster Mutt® Dalmatian, Monster Mutt® Rottweiler and Monster Mutt® Junkyard Dog.  All three Monster Jam® trucks share similar body styles, and both have massive floppy ears, tongues, and even tails! Monster Mutt Dalmatian is driven in SA by the beautiful Candice Jolly one of the outstanding female drivers competing in Monster Jam. Monster Mutt Dalmatian is a huge fan favorite and can be seen at Monster Jam World Finals®!

ZOMBIE – Bari Musawwir

Once again Monster Jam® listens to the fans like no other sport and moves into the future with the creation of the ZombieTM Monster Jam truck. Zombie was picked to “come back from the afterworld” and into reality in Monster Jam. Several names and designs for potential new Monster Jam trucks were unveiled online at MonsterJam.com with fans offered the opportunity to vote on the one they most wanted to see created. The winner of the fans vote: Zombie! So the ultimate fan’s input into the future of the sport became reality with a Monster Jam truck theme completely selected by the sport’s incredible fans. Zombie debuted in 2013 with experienced driver Sean Duhon, who previously had success in several other Monster Jam trucks including the popular SupermanTM.
