Sello Maake KaNcube’s Master Harold… and the Boys Cape Town staging postponed

The Sello Maake KaNcube Foundation wishes to confirm that the upcoming staging of Master Harold… and the Boys has been postponed to 2027 due to unforeseen technical challenges that require additional time and attention to resolve responsibly.

The Foundation remains deeply committed to excellence, integrity, and the long-term sustainability of South African theatre and believes that allowing the necessary space now will best serve the work, its collaborators, and audiences in the future.

During this period, Sello Maake KaNcube will be focusing his attention on several key initiatives under the Foundation’s banner. These include preparations for Banyana Banyana: The Musical, a celebratory production honouring South Africa’s national women’s football team, scheduled to be staged in Johannesburg in May 2026.

In addition, the Foundation has recently launched a WhatsApp Community for South African creatives, aimed at mentorship, skills development, and access to free masterclasses for a select group of emerging and established artists seeking guidance and professional growth.

We thank our partners, audiences, and the arts community for their understanding and continued support.

Further updates regarding Master Harold… and the Boys will be shared in due course.
