Locnville & Sketchy Bongo reignite the magic on new single ‘Déjà Vu’

South African electro-hop pioneers Locnville have reunited with longtime collaborator Sketchy Bongo for their brand-new single, Déjà Vu, officially out now. The track marks the first official release from the trio since their standout collaborations ‘Cold Shoulder‘ and ‘95 Skyline’, and signals the start of an exciting new chapter.

Serving as the lead single from an upcoming EP of the same name, Déjà Vu revisits the unmistakable chemistry that has delivered multiple hits over the years. The nostalgic record reflects on lost love, moments that were, and those that could have been, blending emotive songwriting with signature production textures that longtime fans will instantly recognise. A more expansive collaborative EP is already in the works, promising even more from this powerhouse partnership.

Sketchy Bongo says:

“Working with Locnville was great as always. We have worked on so many hits over the years. We just went in to make music, and I think another few hits were born.”

Andrew Chaplin of Locnville adds:

“Déjà Vu is one of those tracks that just came together completely organically. We all linked up in Abu Dhabi at a hotel room, got together in a little makeshift studio and just freestyled. I think we wrote about five tracks that night and it just made complete sense to lead off with this one.”

Born in New York City and raised in Cape Town, identical twins Andrew and Brian Chaplin – the creative force behind Locnville – have carved out an extraordinary career that has shaped the sound of contemporary South African pop and electronic music. Their debut album Sun in My Pocket rocketed to the top of the charts, earning them an MK Award for Best Newcomer and setting the tone for a meteoric rise.

Over the years, Locnville have delivered multiple hit albums including Running To Midnight, Faster, Longer Mixtape, The Odyssey, Taste The Weekend and The Burn Box. Their global impact was cemented when they won an international MTV EMA Award for Best African Act, solidifying their reputation as one of the continent’s most influential musical exports.

More recently, their rhythmic single ‘Show Me Love’ has continued to climb across radio and streaming platforms worldwide, further proving their enduring relevance and ability to evolve with the times.

With Déjà Vu, Locnville and Sketchy Bongo tap into both memory and momentum with a sonic callback to their golden era, while confidently stepping into what’s next. For fans who have followed their journey from the beginning, it feels familiar. For new listeners, it’s a powerful introduction to a collaboration that has already made history.
