Sunset Sweatshop Bring Their Feel-Good Energy To New Single, Take A Chance

It’s been over a decade of Sunset Sweatshop, and your favourite indie-pop band is back with a new single, Take A Chance. The heart of the song is simple: sometimes the only way to express yourself is to take a chance and let your actions speak louder than explanations ever could.

“We wanted the track to feel bold, uplifting, and full of forward momentum,” They share. “That feeling of standing on the edge of something and deciding to jump anyway. There’s a real sense of urgency and positivity in it, which reflects where we are as a band right now.”

The song was recorded at Sunset Studios in the beautiful Hellshoogte, Stellenbosch, and produced by Fred from The Nothing Club.

“Working with Fred is always a treat, and he brought a fresh dynamic to the process. He really understood the energy we wanted to capture and helped us refine the sound without losing the raw emotion behind it.”

At their core, the band have always kept the same rule of thumb: record when inspired.

“We’re always writing, always jamming, always sitting with new ideas. The creative engine never really stops.  Sunset Sweatshop has always been built around authenticity, and that means we don’t force releases just to stay visible.”

Their previous release was back in 2024 with their single, If I Got You.

“Sometimes it takes time, and we’re okay with that.” When the time is right for a release, they know it. “It means it’s honest, earned, and represents exactly where we are in that moment. Take a Chance came from that space – natural, inspired, and ready.”

Ten years of the band is no easy feat.

“Honestly, longevity isn’t always easy. It’s tough to keep a band together for five years… never mind ten, but the reason we’re still here comes down to one simple thing: every single member is still driven and deeply passionate about music. That fire never left.”

Five completely different and unique personalities, but that’s their strength.

“We’ve learned how to lean into our differences, respect each other’s spaces, and trust the process. There’s a brotherhood that’s grown over the years, and that keeps the foundation strong.”

Fans can expect a lot more music on the horizon.

“We’d love to do a full album, but for now we’re taking it one song at a time. The greater project or “next step” for the band is definitely expanding our audience and live performances beyond African soil.”

“Do we still get that same feeling from the early days? Absolutely. Maybe even stronger now. Because it’s not just a dream anymore – it’s something we’ve built together over a decade. Ten years in… and the fire’s still burning.”

Take A Chance is available now on all major streaming platforms here.
