Loudest and proudest cars to compete in World Record Semi Final event at Sibaya

Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom, home of International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) events in KwaZulu-Natal, is host to the World Record Semi Finals and Boss Motor Show on 27 and 28 July 2019.

The two day event features an International SPL Format and Bass Boxing Sound-off competition, an International Sound Quality contest, a Tuner Jam Challenge – Show & Shine competition and the Dyno Challenge, made possible by Boss Tell and Boss Communications. IASCA SA has been working closely with the team from Boss Tell and Boss Telecoms; this platform will be used to launch their brand new telecommunications initiative.

Competitors will travel from as far afield as Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg to show off their prides and joy in this World Record Semi Final Event. These competitors have also spent many man hours preparing their vehicles.

In the International SPL Format and Bass Boxing Sound-off competition, the SPL Divisions are based on the experience and industry position of the competitor and the level of modifications to the vehicle. Classes are based on the cumulative total of all subwoofer cone surfaces in square inches. The cost per entry is R250.

The International Sound Quality contest showcases the best looking and best sounding cars in the country in a format which judges not only the aesthetic appeal of the vehicle but also the very complex listening environment. The vehicles are judged based on a set of criteria which rate it according to the tonality of the vehicle as well as how the equipment is installed. The cost per entry is R200.

In the Tuner Jam Challenge – Show & Shine competition, headed by Grounded Nation, entries are judged in terms of modifications and enhancements to the vehicle and motor. The divisions include the mild and wild divisions all the way through to the wreck of the day. The cost to enter is R150.

Headed by Extreme Rides, the Dyno Challenge allows ‘static racing’. The vehicles are driven by a designated driver. The driver then drives the vehicle up the ramps onto the rollers, after which it is strapped onto the dynamometer. The vehicle’s details are entered into the computer program, namely front or rear wheel drive and motor specifications. The gearing ratio is then set at 3000rpm. Once this has been done the variables are entered, temperature, air pressure and humidity. The owner of the vehicle instructs the driver up to what rpm the vehicle may be driven. The results are printed in a graph format, showing the kilowatts, Newton meters of torque and the speed of the vehicle. The cost to enter this competition is R200 per vehicle.

The event takes place from 10h00 to 17h00 on the Saturday and from 09h00 to 18h00 on the Sunday in the Sibaya Casino Main Car Park. Spectators can enjoy the fast paced revving action for free.
