Godfrey Johnson – One Night Only!

Godfrey Johnson will be celebrating an evening of two of his greatest inspirations. Jacque Brel and Noel Coward are considered two of the greatest song writers and social commentators of the Twentieth Century and they influenced generations of artists for decades. Johnson has paid homage to both icons in “Flirting With Coward” and “The Shadow of Brel“. Both shows were directed by Sanjin Muftic and Johnson was nominated for The Fleur du Cap award for best performance in a one-person show for both productions.

He has also recorded songs by Brel, available on all platforms. Johnson would like to share some of his very favourite songs, monologues and poetry by these two icons. The show will include “Amsterdam”,”If You Go Away”, “Mad Dogs and Englishmen”, “Any Little Fish” and so much more. Johnson was most recently seen in VASLAV for which he was nominated for four Fleur du Cap awards (Best Composer, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Musical, Best Performance in a One-person Show, Best Soundscape).

He also appeared with Pieter- Dirk Uys in “Bambi Kellermann Kabaret” and “Simpatico” with Aletia Upstairs. He was recently a lead in David Moore’s Showmax film “Once Upon a Roadtrip.” Previous one man shows include “Alice Sal Regkom“, “Liberace” and “The Importance of Being Harnessed.”
